Today I’m excited about the TransMilenio bus system in Bogotá, which I learned lots about from Gary Hustwit’s Urbanized. (Hooray, the DVD is finally out!)

Surely I’ve heard about it before and read all the Enrique Peñalosa talks, but it was all just stats, words and numbers. Seeing the actual footage and the people who were passionate about the idea so much, that they helped to find the money, is different.

And it was Peñalosa, the mayor. He found out about it, he believed in it, he built it, despite all the dusty, noisy, dirty and heavy traffic around.
